1) How is PSA different from any other screening company?

PSA’s reporting method provides our clients with ALL education, ALL employment, ALL criminal histories and ALL references. In an effort to assist our clients in meeting OSHA requirements to "make a reasonable effort to provide a safe work environment", PSA’s philosophy is to investigate ALL background information represented on the application or resume. Instead of only checking the most recent education, possibly the last 3 years of employment or the applicant's most recent address for criminal convictions, we check ALL of the information provided by the applicant - and do so for a set fee.

2) What are the standard turnaround times?

PSA provides a QwikScreen™ report within 48 to 72 hours at no additional charge. This report provides you with any information that has been received during the preliminary background investigation. Since many employers and references may require a written authorization, we also provide the client with the PreScreen Plus™ final report within 5 business days.

3) What methods of transmission are used?

There are 2 methods available for sending cases and receiving reports:

  1. Internet web site – scanner and software provided
  2. Facsimile

4) What types of reports are available?

PreScreen America offers both partial and full reports depending upon the client’s requirements. A full report of up to ten (10) areas can be completed for $145.00. A partial report of any four (4) areas is $95.00. Reports can also be customized to include any mix of the ten available investigative areas. Once the selection of areas is made, we will provide a set fee for the custom report.

5) What effect do the changes in the September 31, 1997 amendment to the Fair Credit Reporting Act have on me as an employer?

Employers must have a signed waiver in order to obtain a background screening on an applicant. This must be a separate document from the application. They must also provide a written summary of the applicant's rights.

6) My current vendor requires that I data enter the applicant’s name, address, date of birth, social security number and then request the areas I would like to screen. How does PSA's method save the time and errors we currently experience?

Regardless of the case submission method you select, the only information we require is the number of cases being sent and the type of investigation being requested (this is an "X" in a box). You may also add a message to the submission if you wish. Our systems do not require any other client data entry.

7) Who handles calls or issues I have with my cases?

Each client is provided with a client representative to handle your questions and concerns. They are responsible for receiving and transmitting your cases on a daily basis. They will also maintain your daily case log for your review.

8) Does your company have any type of summary of the cases sent in? We have no way of tracking our requests and need to make numerous calls to our current vendor to find out when cases will be delivered.

Clients may view a summary of their cases through our web site, or alternately, clients can be provided with a daily case log through email or facsimile. This report summarizes all cases transmitted and received. The log includes date received, applicant name, report due dates and any follow-ups still pending.
